Wisconsin pastor accused of transferring private photos without consent

Gabriel “Gabe” Mills, a former pastor at Journey Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, is facing two felony charges for allegedly transferring intimate photos of a church member without consent. Mills reportedly accessed the photos during a church life group meeting at his home. According to the criminal complaint, he sent the images from the phone of the woman’s husband to his own device via AirDrop.

Incident During Life Group Meeting

The alleged incident occurred on September 22, when Mills borrowed the woman’s husband’s phone, purportedly to download an audiobook app. The victim noticed Mills holding the phone suspiciously and later saw one of her private photos on the screen. The image was reportedly one she had sent exclusively to her husband.

Criminal Complaint and Charges

Following the discovery, the victim and her husband, a Racine Police Department employee, filed a report with Kenosha police. Investigators confirmed that Mills used AirDrop to transfer the photos. Mills has been charged with two counts of capturing an intimate representation without consent. He faces up to $10,000 in fines or three and a half years in prison if convicted.

Church and Community Response

Journey Church terminated Mills’ employment on September 29, a day after learning of the allegations. Lead pastor Kevin Taylor expressed shock and reaffirmed the church’s commitment to transparency and moral accountability. Taylor noted that no evidence suggests that students were impacted and announced counseling services for affected members.

Investigation Continues

Mills, who previously served as a guest experience pastor, is out on a $7,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on October 9. Police are investigating the possibility of other victims at the church. The Assemblies of God-affiliated megachurch has removed Mills’ profile from its website.
