A verger at Spain’s Nuestra Senora de La Palma church was killed during a suspected terror attack against two churches. The attack also injured four other people.
Eyewitnesses report that the alleged perpetrator used a machete during the attacks on Nuestra Senora de La Palma Church and San Isidro Church located in Algeciras, Spain. Verger Diego Valencia was killed while trying to stop the attacker as Mass was being conducted inside the church.
The parish priest of the San Isidro Church, Rev. Antonio Rodriguez, was stabbed when the attacker attempted to force the priest to convert to Islam. He is currently in a hospital with a serious health condition.

Eye witnesses say that the alleged attacker shouted “Allahu akbar” and “death to Christians” during the machete attack on San Isidro Church and Nuestra Senora de La Palma Church in the southern Spanish city of Algeciras on Wednesday evening.

Francisco Garcia, secretary general of Spain’s Episcopal Conference, told Reuters that he was in “great pain” over the attack.
“These are sad times of suffering; we are united by the pain of the victims’ families and for the Cadiz Diocese,” he said.
