I have written several articles over the last several months discussing the demise of the evangelical witness in our nation. The truth is that not only are we ruining our witness but we are actually doing the work of atheists and helping the cause of atheism.
I have a friend who is agnostic. He is the son of a pastor but has so many problems with the Christianity he sees today. He is kind and respectful and we have been able to keep a good dialogue for several years now. He sent me the video below which was made for an atheist organization by a former Christian broadcaster.
The video makes some good points with a simple approach. It takes scripture and compares it to the words of Trump and evangelical leaders.
The net effect is that it effectively shows our hypocrisy.
We are making it easy
We have made our own subculture where we hear our own opinions echoed back at ourselves and it has disconnected us from the rest of the world. We seem to have lost the ability to look at ourselves from an outside perspective.
That perspective now clearly, and with strong evidence, sees evangelical Christianity as internally incoherent. That has been the claim of many atheists over the years and we are offering them evidence to support their thesis at a staggering rate.
Christ said that we will be known by our love. I guarantee that love is not the first thing that comes to most minds when they think of evangelicals. That is tragic! That which Christ claimed would define us is now almost entirely disassociated from how we are viewed.
We need to repent and learn to reflect our God to the world rather than obscuring his face.
Seems like this website should be called “politicsonview.com”, not faithonview.com.
Politics is one area where we live out our faith. The policies we support should reflect our faith.
