A 27-year-old man allegedly abducted 40 children in Uganda under deception. According to Ugandan police reports, he deceived children aged 5 to 16 by offering them education. The victims were rescued on February 2 after a pastor inquired about these alleged scholarships.
There are suspicions that the plan was to kidnap and sell them to a Muslim militant group. The results of the police investigation discovered that the kidnapper was a Muslim posing as a Christian.
Siraji Sabiri posed as the leader of a charity and deceived the children. Sabiri is currently in detention, as is Salima Geriya, who was also involved in the scheme.
Morning Star News:
“A pastor in Arua first learned of the alleged scam by church members who told him that a Christian organization was enrolling children for scholarships for a school in Luwero district in central Uganda. Sabiri is a resident of Wakiso district, near Luwero.”
According to the investigations, the plan was to take the 40 children from Uganda to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The authorities would not have noticed this event without the complaint of the pastor, who was worried about the children.
