At the start of a recent evangelistic meeting, preacher and author Nancy Dufresne received a $3,900 Louis Vuitton travel case as a birthday gift. Pastors Jay and Debbie Eberly presented the gift during the 2024 Jay Eberly Ministries camp meeting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The event was streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. Dufresne enthusiastically expressed her gratitude, remarking, “My love language is stuff,” while admiring the luxurious present.
Context of the Gift
The Louis Vuitton Horizon Business rolling case was deemed an appropriate gift in light of the new jet Dufresne’s ministry has been fundraising for. Pastor Jay Eberly encouraged attendees to contribute additional money for Dufresne, clarifying that the funds would be a personal gift and not tax-deductible. Along with the travel case, Dufresne received a cake decorated with the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram.
Ministry Fundraising and Future Plans
The mention of the new jet ties into Dufresne’s “Eagle Team Projects,” which includes a fundraiser for an airplane. As of mid-July 2024, over $1 million has been raised, with a remaining pledged balance of $443,193. Although Dufresne Ministries is not listed as a nonprofit organization, its parent company, Word of Life World Outreach Center Inc., is registered as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) entity.
Continued Ministry Activities
Following the gift presentation, the camp meeting continued with Dufresne and fellow minister David Ellis leading prayers and laying hands on attendees. The event was characteristic of Dufresne’s charismatic ministry style, influenced by leaders like Kenneth Hagin, a controversial figure in the Word of Faith movement. With nearly four decades in ministry, Dufresne is known for her focus on the gifts of the Spirit.
