Televangelist and gospel singer Juanita Bynum is under fire for offering a seven-session prayer training class priced at $1,499.
Josh Shepherd of The Roys Report writes that Bynum defended the price in an online video, calling price-related criticism โan insult to who I am.โ
Bynum also brought up several charities in her name, only one of which filed tax disclosure forms in recent years. The televangelist has a daily program on the Daystar network in Dallas, along with over a million online followers.
Shepherd continues:
Saiko Woods, a Bible teacher in west Texas who hosts The Book Chapter Verse Podcast, noted he has long-standing concerns after following Bynumโs ministry for years.
โWhen Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, as we read in Matthew chapter six, there was no fee involved,โ Woods told The Roys Report (TRR). โSo, prayer is free. Thereโs no price for it.โ

Also calling Bynum out publicly is an author and street preacher from Chicago, Marcus Rogers.
โAs you guys know, I never charge to travel and preach and I never charge for classes,โ Rogers posted on Facebook last week. โI feel like God freely gave it so I freely give it to help His people. . . .So I want to hear yโallโs hearts on this. I just think this is outrageous.โ
Bynumโs post received 3.7K responses and thousands of comments.
Regarding the course, Bynum emphasized that her TV studio has space for hundreds of people, and this Atlanta training represented her launching a โnext-level school of prayerโ that would be limited to 150 people. The online listing states that a tote bag, binder, journal, sacred anointing oil, and Prayer Institute certificate are included as part of the course.
